REMOTE SERVICE FOR REGISTRATION IN THE MUNICIPAL REGISTER OF VALENCIA AND BARCELONA (EMPADRONAMIENTO)

Many of our clients find themselves in the urgent situation of having to register their residence with the Spanish municipality where they will be living (often even before traveling to Spain), or to complete the so-called “Empadronamiento” (“Alta en el padrón municipal”).

In most Spanish municipalities, this procedure must be carried out in person by the interested party or their representative. However, BarcelonaGlobalService carries it out completely online and remotely, only asking the client for a few documents via email.

You do not need to have a NIE, TIE, or any type of residence permit in Spain. All you need is your passport from any country (not only European) or, if you do not have a passport, your identity card issued by your country of origin.

In addition to you, we can also register any family members who will accompany you to Spain and reside in the same property.

In many cases, empadronamiento is required when submitting the first application (made electronically) for a residence permit in Spain, i.e., before traveling to Spain.

In addition to this (and other documentation that we will prepare ourselves before submitting the application electronically), we will need one of the following documents:

• Rental agreement in your name, in Spanish, signed by both you and the owner, or

• If you do not yet have a rental agreement, an authorization (which we will prepare) that the landlord must sign and send to us, scanned, together with their identity documents

The time required to obtain the residence certificate (“Certificado de empadronamiento”) is extremely quick in Barcelona (maximum 7 days), while in Valencia it can be very long, taking up to almost two months.

In many other Spanish municipalities, which offer the possibility of completing the empadronamiento online, the response time for obtaining a “resolución” (and, therefore, the certificate of empadronamiento) can be as little as two to three days.

Apart from Barcelona and Valencia, we can check whether the municipality where you want to register your empadronamiento is authorized to do so electronically, so that we can guarantee the service in other Spanish municipalities as well.
