Today it has been almost two years since I sent a complaint first to CaixaBank (my bank, albeit briefly, because I will tell it to go to hell as soon as possible), which first ignored me, and then to the Central Spanish Bank (“Banco de España”), which agreed with me. The facts, in a nutshell, are as follows: my then “manager” (“gestora”), who is as useless as 99% of the staff at all Spanish banks, cancelled both my credit and debit cards (and just after I warned her not to do what she wanted to do as in my opinion the strange operations she “offered” me to to would end up cancelling all my credit and debit card while I was outside Spain, but she said “don’t worry, I’m a professional and I know what I’m doing, trust me!!!”) when I was in Italy for family reasons, and for more than two months I had to borrow money from friends because I could not even use the ATM. In addition, because my CaixaBank card supported several platforms with which I pay monthly subscriptions for work tools (Google Drive, WordPress, licenses, etc…) each of these providers informed me that when they saw the cancelled cards, they gave me 48 hours to indicate a new card or they would cancel the service (losing my work email as well).
Something very similar happened a few years ago, again with CaixaBank, again with one of their wonderful “gestores,” which I still don’t quite understand what and how they “manage”…
So, as you can see, the last resolution (there have been many, all in my favor) of the Banco de España totally agreed with me (for the third time) , forcing CaixaBank to reimburse me what I was asking for in terms of damages, which are not millions of euros but 750 euros.
Do you know what CaixaBank did after the non-existence of Banco de España? It offered me to drop any civil action in exchange for 150 euros (a bank like CaixaBank that makes a huge mistake with a historical client and, instead of apologizing and paying what it owes, offers 150 euros).
Caixabank is a bank of useless and miserable people, as well as arrogant (from the “managers” to the subsidiary directors), and I who work with foreigners, investors and entrepreneurs moving to Spain always recommend fleeing CaixaBank for this reason.
Well done CaixaBank!
For everyone else, be careful with your money, always keep your hands in your wallet because Catalonia is full of pickpockets (who wear ties and are in the office in Calle Bruc in Barcelona).
